Kaeling & Scott — A wedding under the tree

Kaeling & Scott

Kaeling and Scott at their wedding ceremony beneath a giant redwood.

To Kaeling and Scott —

The tree was older than any wedding it had ever witnessed. It had watched centuries of weddings pass through its bark — the way it watches everything else — quietly, on a different clock.

You chose to sit down at the foot of it. Four chairs in a half-circle. Your parents on either side. No aisle. No procession. No microphone. Just the wood at your back, the moss at your feet, and a marriage starting in the slow time the tree keeps.

It was one of the smallest weddings I have ever photographed. It was also one of the largest.

Thank you for letting me kneel down inside it.

Stephanie

For the couple

If your day is the one worth remembering,
I’d like to be the one who keeps it.
