To Mackey and Haylee —

You picked the field. The field picked the hour. By the time we made the photographs, the sun had decided it was on our team.

What I love about this set is how much movement is in it. You weren't standing for the camera — you were running, both of you, through grass that came up past your knees, with the mountain behind you doing what mountains do at golden hour. Most wedding portraits are still life. Yours are short films.

I think about Utah a lot lately. The light here is doing something the rest of the country isn't. You knew that.
