To Tasha and Drew —
The first time you said the words, you didn't know yet what they would cost. You were younger; love was a country you were both moving to for the first time.
The second time, you knew. You came back to the Oregon Coast on a cold morning, with the same dress and the same hands and a marriage's worth of evidence behind you. And you said them again — deliberately, into the fog.
I made these photographs slowly. The day didn't want to be hurried. The sea was loud enough to give you privacy for the words, and quiet enough — somehow — to let them be heard.
This is one of the most honest sets of photographs I have ever made. Thank you for letting me make it.
— Stephanie
